New Camerata Opera is a non-profit organization that aims to build new audiences for opera. Three initiatives accomplish this mission: full-length operas presented at venues, newly arranged children’s operas, and original short films. The organization has been hailed as “the future of opera.” One of the most consistently active opera companies in New York.
Under the direction of its founders, I collaborated with artists and composers on multiple projects and short films. Chief of these being, The Ives Project.
“The Ives Project: Thoreau”
CamerataWorks presented 9 film adaptations of Charles Ives' songs, directed by Paul Ashey, recorded, mixed, and mastered by Derek Box, with world-renowned Ives scholar Neely Bruce at the piano.
Charles Ives was an American composer known for his experimental musical interpretations. This project is a representation of his Piano Sonata No.2 (Concord Sonata).
The director wanted to create a miniature world of the piece where the protagonist experiences the transcendentalism the lyrics describe. I collaborated with him and the artists in pre and post production assisting with video editing and photography.
